Our Creative Process

When you choose Watercolor Design Studio, you’re signing up to work with artists who have over 25 years of design experience under their belts. We will guide you through the concept and design phases, create your custom watercolor artwork and then manage the printing and production process. Our attention to detail will help create a wonderful wedding suite to mark the beginning of your wedding story. Please scroll below to see a detailed outline of what to expect.
Inquiry Form
After filling out our invitation questionnaire, we send you a customized proposal based on your choices. Once you sign the contact and leave a deposit, you will get an email asking for all the good stuff! Reference images are helpful along with as many details of what you would like your dream invitation suite to look like! Then based on your preferred RSVP date, a timeline emails comes your way mapping out when you can expect each phase
of the process to begin.

You’ll also have access to a private client portal that keeps all of our correspondences, invoice and design proofs in one place.
Design & Paint
Once we a good idea of your vision, we brainstorm to come up with a sketch of your wedding suite. We like to think we nail it right away, but if not we will send one other sketch to get it right. Then according to your timeline, we start painting the artwork for you. When we are done, you get another design proof of your painted suite. At this point, we will go over fonts, ink colors, and design tweaks. We plan 4 design proofs into your timeline. Anything after that will require additional days added to your schedule. Sticking to the timeline and avoiding excess proofs will ensure we stick to those delivery dates.
Print & Production
Clients will need to proof read for spelling mistakes and make sure all the details are approved on the final proof before the suite goes to the printer. The final payment is then due before printing. While we wait for the invites to come back, we print the guest addresses here in the studio. Once the suites are back to us from the printer, we glue the liners in, organize all the details like wax seals, ribbons, etc. and then ship out those fabulous suites!
